Dominican Republic is investing on Education

This week, President Danilo Medina inaugurated schools with extended day programs in the Duarte Province, Boca Chica and Azua.

The inaugurations are part of President Medina's education revolution, which promise the economic contribution of 4% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

President Medina noted that 4% of GDP represents an investment of more than RD$99.6 billion pesos ($2.3 billion dollars). The project will be distributed among large educational policies defined in the Ten Year Plan, in the Millennium Goals and Presidential Goals.

"The republic has never had a president who took education as a main task. Never has the country had a President who chose education as his bride and eternal love education, "said Amarante Baret, Minister of Education.

Three schools were inaugurated in Boca Chica, five in throughout the Duarte Province and four in Azua, with more to come before the President's four-year term comes to an end.
