Gustavo Domínguez - Los Pintaos de Barahona

"Los Pintaos de Barahona" is a Dominican pop-culture phenomenon attributed to Francisco Antonio Suero (Gato), and first witnessed in 1997 at carnival, in the city of Barahona.

Participants color their bodies, usually with one or two base colors, with another color splashed on, creating unique designs. Some even add bone necklaces. The event has grown beyond the carnival in Barahona, into a national symbol.
